Geode Symbolism and Going for Gold

Over the weekend I saw a co-worker's FB status say that he had a mini panic attack when he discovered he had to move.  The house he was renting is going on the market in April, so he doesn't have much of a choice.

So I brought him a geode I'd cracked open at the park last weekend to remind him that things might look crappy on the outside, but inside it might turn out beautifully.

A kid I babysat for in high school won a gold metal at the Olympics today. Nothing like that to make you feel old and unaccomplished.
